I’m Joel Helfer .

I have 40 years of street smart experience in the construction industry. My specialty was glass, aluminum, glazing and related products. But the game is the same regardless of what products you sell.

I have worked as a gofer, construction laborer, truck driver, foreman,field engineer, sales engineer, sales manager, director of marketing, subcontractor, manufacturer, fabricator, vendor, distributor, boss’s son, nija jedi collector of outstanding accounts, trade journal author, speaker, industry leader, association director, association president, founder of golf outings, trade shows and even  founder of “The Glass Hall of Fame”.   I also am a serious commercial real estate investor.  You name it, I did it.

I have been a partner in 5 successful construction firms since 1971, when I graduated the University of Illinois, Champaign ( with a BSBA degree from the U of I Business School ).  In each business, I helped more than double sales and quadruple profits through hard work, persistence and unusually effective marketing strategies and tactics.

My goal is to help ambitious contractors reach their goals with a unique CONSTRUCTION MARKETING MACHINE, and private one on one coaching.

BACK STORY:

After 40 years in the glass business, we came to one conclusion… “Just Sell The Damned Thing!”

We sold out at the right time, with the knowledge that we had. We did well in our business, but got tired of paying high wages, even higher insurance costs, and working for much lower margins that we had hoped for. I began to wonder who I was working for, but I knew it wasn’t me.

I sold my business on a calm autumn afternoon, after paying all my bills and finding new jobs for my employees. We walked  away clean, with our heads held high. I was relieved, for at the time it was the right thing to do, based on what I believed to be true.

But there was a whole body of knowledge just waiting for me, that would have changed everything.

I discovered this stuff because I still have three kids to put through college and still need an income. This “stuff” is called Direct Response Marketing. And when combined with the internet, is the powerful approach to create the sales and profits I was missing that forced me to sell my business.

I’m Joel Helfer and thanks for visiting my site.

As a business man and a family guy, I spent most of my life in the construction business. I spent 2/3 of my life as a glass and glazing subcontractor in the turbulent Chicago market.

There were good times and rough times like today, but we thrived because we developed offline systems and client attraction methods that kept the phones ringing. We made tons of cash and profits. Our gross sales were over 100 million dollars. I made many big deals, set up the projects, outsourced vendors, and completed the deals.

I never walked away from a deal in my life and completed every project I agreed to do.
